E-commerce or online commerce brings together all commercial transactions operating remotely through electronic and digital interfaces. E-commerce essentially includes commercial transactions taking place on the Internet from different types of terminals (computers, tablets, smartphones, consoles, connected TVs). M-commerce is then a component of e-commerce. E-commerce has become the main channel of distance selling which explains the replacement of the term “mail order” by that of “distance selling”. According to Fevad, the turnover of French e-commerce amounted to 72 billion € for the year 2016 with an average basket of 70 Euros and for a total of more than 200,000 merchant sites. The e-buyer spends an average of € 2,000 a year on 28 transactions. According to the same source, e-commerce accounted for 8% of retail trade in 2016.
